Why is Venture Mentoring a blast?
By Alexandra Dumitru on January 31, 2013
The Venture Mentoring program started in March 2012, coming close to one year. So far, it reached over 100 companies from Bucharest, Timisoara and Cluj. Topics are useful and elaborate enough to resolve complex business questions.
And the strategy is:
- every two weeks to propose a topic for debate, bring a mentor, book a conference room and wait for entrepreneurs, freelancers, professionals or anyone who is interested in the topic to join us
Then, why is Venture Mentoring such a blast for the entrepreneurial community:
- the environment is friendly, intimate, informal designed in an entrepreneurial spirit
- the number of participants per session is limited as to offer direct engagement and enough time for everybody
- the topics proposed for discussion aim at assisting the attending start-ups and entrepreneurs in delivering a better, more scalable business plan
- mentors are willing to spend however long (the longest meeting lasted up to 5 hours) to sit down and have a deep, clear-cut analysis of the business case presented
- it is a fun, easy-going, result-orientated afternoon
- heavy networking, fresh and promising business collaborations
The attending participant has to:
- have a couple of questions, or maybe just one, dilemmas, business curiosities, or the simple desire to spend some time listening to more experienced businessmen
And the mentor has to:
- listen, interact, advise when possible , offer direct and immediate feedback
That is, in short, the Venture Mentoring spirit. The role of all these sessions is to meet, help and engage with the Romanian entrepreneurial community, as well as to design a workshop model that is directly applied to current business needs; while also having plenty of fun doing it!
The next meeting is next week, 6th February, together with Radu Georgescu, Chairman GECAD Group, member in the VentureConnect Foundation, and one of the most successful Romanian entrepreneur. Plus, a very well-intended and straightforward mentor. To sign up for the Radu’s session, click here.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and start another successful serie of Venture Mentoring sessions!
