On 20 June 2011, VentureConnect will hold its thrid edition at the Hotel Intercontinental in Bucharest. At the 2011 event, VentureConnect is expecting potential investors from the U.S., Western Europe, the Central & East European region as well as Romania. Confirmed participants include Kenneth P. Morse (serial entrepreneur) and William K. Aulet (senior lecturer) from the U.S., as well as 3TS Capital Partners which intends to launch in the upcoming months “3TS Catalyst Fund Romania” aimed at investments in the Romanian IT/online sectors.
At the events held in 2010, participating investors included BlueSky Capital from France, Intel Capital and 3TS Capital from the U.S., GED Capital Development from Spain, Fraser Finance (a leading U.K.-based specialist investment banking firm) as well as other well-known regional investors such as Oresa Ventures (an investment company with Swedish origins focused on private equity investments in Central & Eastern Europe), Enterprise Investors (one of the oldest and largest firms managing private equity and venture capital funds in Poland and Central & Eastern Europe), Credo Ventures (a venture capital company focused on early stage investments in Central Europe) as well as NCH Investors (a large financial investor with substantial activities in Romania) and Fundatia Post-Privatizare (the first Romanian foundation devoted solely to entrepreneurship).
The main objective of VentureConnect is to facilitate direct contact between entrepreneurs and potential investors. In short, VentureConnect provides the means by which Romania-based entrepreneurs may successfully access international and local funding. Likewise, the selected participants will have the opportunity to be mentored by Romania’s leading IT/online entrepreneurs and business/intellectual property lawyers who are members of VentureConnect’s advisory board.
